CHAPTER
12
1. Now these are the kings of the land, whom the Israelites defeated, whose land they occupied beyond the Jordan toward the east, from the Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon, with all the Arabah eastward:2. King Sihon of the Amorites who lived at Heshbon, and ruled from aroer, which is on the edge of the Wadi Arnon, and from the middle of the valley as far as the river Jabbok, the boundary of the Ammonites, that is half of Gilead, 3. and the Arabah to the Sea of Chinneroth eastward, and in the direction of Beth-jeshimoth, to the sea of Arabah, the Dead Sea, southward to the foot of the slopes of Pisgah;

Oh God my Father I thank You for all the accomplishments over the forces of evil, and for the unfolding of Your plan leading to our salvation. As You guided Joshua through the promised land that resulted in one war after another, You also lead us victoriously after our issues and challenges. When mentioning the names of the long list of Kings conquered and lands taken, we can replace them with all the accomplishments of our spiritual journey throughout the journey of life, leading to You and Heaven which is our promised land. 4. and King Og of Bashan, one of the last of the Rephaim, who lived at Ashtaroth and at Edrei 5. and ruled over Mount Hermon and Salecah and all Bashan to the boundary of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and over half of Gilead to the boundary of King Sihon of Heshbon.

Oh God my Father, Hatred and bitterness along with grudges and self-pity are also mighty warriors or kings that we are to overcome for they can easily defeat us if we are caught on a wrong foot away from You my God and Father.

6. Moses, the servant of the LORD, and the Israelites defeated them; and Moses the servant of the LORD gave their land for a possession to the Rubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

Oh God my Father, even though Moses appeared to be as a God, for Your people, an image of authority, of which he must have been aware, Moses still retained the humility of the humble servant. I pray oh God, that even if we advance in our careers and social status, we still the humility of that of Your servants subject to their LORD, who is You my God and Father Amen.
7. The following are the kings of the land whom Joshua and the Israelites defeated on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, that rises toward Seir (and Joshua gave their land to the tribes of Israel as a possession according to their allotments. 8. in the hill country, in the lowland, in the Arabah, in the slopes, in the wilderness, and in the Negeb, the land of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites):

Oh God my Father You distribute Your resources not with favoritism or political bias, but according to our needs, according to Your eternal foresight in time and space. According to Your perfect judgment when distributing the lands to Your people tou allotted the lands according to the size and needs of Your people. When choosing a career for us and our children, You also direct us to that particular one that is compatible with our psychology, personality, sexual orientation and spiritual beliefs and values. If we decide freely on an opportunity that is not according to His will in time God will redirect us to that area which is applicable to us. In the mean time my God and Father, You will keep on training us to conquer the next land of our promised land sequence or king, that could be issues of self-esteem, depression among others.

Oh God my Father when considering this long list of 31 successes, we can stop and make our own list of successes, not disregarding one of the greatest successes of them all which is our birth, which is followed by our baptism, confirmation and many others, for which we can now offer praise of thanksgiving to You.
