Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11

HISTORICAL BOOKS

JOSHUA

CHAPTER

11

1. When King Jabin of Hazor heard of this, he sent to King Jobab of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph, 2. and to the kings who were in the northern hill country, and in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and in Naphoth-dor on the west, 3. to the Canaanites in the east and the west, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, and the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verses 1 to 3)

Oh God my Father when the evils ones observe that You are becoming closer to us, and that we are experiencing growth in our re;relationship with You, they become mad at us, and do their utmost to unite in order to become an indestructible force against us, however with You on our side my God and Father who could ever succeed against us. In light of this delicate issue I would like you to join us in this following son and prayer by clicking on the following link:-

If God is for us who can be against

4. They came out, with all their troops, a great army, in number like the sand on the seashore, with very many horses and chariots. 5. All these kings joined their forces, and came and camped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verses 4 to 5)

Have you ever felt overwhelmed when in the face of a big problem? If yes this verse is for you and even myself. At times the problem seems to be both complex and challenging however as in the case of Joshua, who might have felt his heart melting, on seeing the multitude of soldiers and chariots, we are to place our faith in You oh my God instead of on ourselves and our limited resources.

6. And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will hand over all of them, slain to Israel; you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire."

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verse 6)

Oh my God thank You for empowering us against the obstacles that we face and give us the extra drive to overcome our insecurities and blockages that compel us to live a limited life much less than the abilities that You have given us Amen.

7. So Joshua came suddenly upon them with all his fighting force, by the waters of Merom and fell upon them.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verse 7)

Oh God when it comes to making decisions in life in order to break a negative, habit relationship or even maybe an addiction we need to pray for a strong will to abstain from such a practice and empowered by the power of prayer and praise we will deal the enemy a big blow as in the case of Joshua. Amen.

8. And the LORD handed them over to Israel, who attacked them and chased them as far as Great Sidon and Misrephoth-maim, and eastward as far as the valley of Mizpeh. They struck them down, until they had left no one remaining. 9. And Joshua did to them as the LORD commanded him; he hamstrung their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verses 8 to 9)

Oh God there is nothing that gives You more pleasure than our obedience. As You obeyed Your Father to the letter You also expect us to show obedience to Your Holy Will Amen.

10. Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and struck its king down with the sword. before that time Hazor was the head of all those kingdoms. 11. And they put to the sword all who were in it, utterly destroying them; there was no one left who breathed, and he burned Hazor with fire.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verses 10 to 11)

Oh God my Father throughout the process of our lives You give us many small victories that lead to the conquering of bigger ones. You break one big problem into many tasks that You guide us through until You make us strong enough to tackle the core of the problem. Amen

12. And all the towns of those kings, and all their kings, Joshua took, and struck them with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded. 13. But Israel burned none of the towns that stood on mounds except Hazor, which Joshua did burn.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verses 12 to 13)

Oh God my Father, how disobedient we are, although You give us the rules we settle for the exception and acting according to our wills instead of Yours. I pray oh God that You heal us from this obstinacy, so that we can claim a victory over ourselves Amen.

14. All the spoil of these towns, and the livestock, the Israelites took for their booty; but all the people they struck down with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, and they did not leave any who breathed. 15. As the LORD had commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verses 14 to 15)

Oh God how great is the power of obedience! Moses pledged his obedience to You, in turn Joshua pledged his obedience to both You and Moses, and at the bottom of the line there is also myself, who pledges my obedience to You, my family, boss at work, supervisors and the laws of both the State and the Roman Catholic Church. All the time we are called to some form of obedience, however my obedience to You and Your will is always of top priority Amen.

16. So Joshua took all that land; the hill country and all the Negeb and all the land of Goshen and the lowland and the Arabah and the hill country of Israel and its lowland, 17. from Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir, as far as Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. He took all their kings, struck them down, and put them to death. 18. Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. 19. There was not a town that made peace with the Israelites, except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon; all were taken in battle.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verses 16 to 19)

Oh God my Father in order to reach our promised land that can range from overcoming our natural self, fulfilling of our aims such as a career, or even arriving at our heavenly home, we need to fight many battles especially against our own self, for our sinful nature is at constant war with the presence of Your Holy Spirit which dwells in us. When we feel stuck in a certain area of our lives, that may be our past, addictions, sins, habits or whatever the area may be it, could be the case that there is still healing that is needed from our side, therefore we cannot move ahead in our spiritual life until we have conquered that area. Therefore as we are marching with God, when we are ready He will heal us and like Joshua, we will conquer even that blockage in our life. May nothing oh God my Father stand between us and the salvation that You claimed for us by means of Your passion Amen.

20. For it was the LORD's  doing to harden their hearts so that they would come against Israel in battle, in order that they might be utterly destroyed, and might receive no mercy, but be exterminated, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verse 20)

Oh brothers and sisters in God my Father, do not worry if people turn against us, especially due to our faith in God our Father or maybe for doing an act of goodness, it may be the will of God, that the particular relationship to come to an end for our own good. It may even be according to the will of God, that that particular company where you work has to close down its doors. God has better opportunities in store for You. Our development both spiritual, psychological and even spiritual may have become stagnant or degenerate in that place, and therefore, for our own good it is time to move on. Due to our insecurities, we may not have the courage to make such a move, however, our God and Father will create circumstances that compel us to make the necessary change in our lives Amen.

21. At that time Joshua came and wiped out the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Israel; Joshua utterly destroyed them with their towns. 22. None of the Anakim was left in the land of the Israelites; some remained only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod. 23. So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal allotments. And the land had rest from war.

(Historical Books Joshua Chapter 11 verses 21 to 23)

Oh God and Father I thank You for remaining faithful to the promises that You make. You are an awesome God and Father. Even though many years passed since You made the original promise with Abraham and his descendants You kept Your word and gave Your people the lands promised to them. I also pray that when our time comes we also enter into our promised land which for me is a place in heaven in Your presence. Even though many wars against myself are still awaiting I know that with You by my side I will be worthy of wearing the victor's crown Amen.

I would like to end this chapter with the following reflection that you can share by clicking on the following link:-

The Victor's crown
